Well this month a few of our staff members (including myself) have taken part in a Pretty Muddy 5K. They got people from their personal lives to sponsor Cancer Research and then drew up a separate Sponsor form to get people from inside work etc to sponsor them for the same race but all funds raised to be donated to the lovely residents “Activity Fund”.
The staff that took part where:
Leanne Lewis (Deputy Manager)
Lucie Jackson (Senior Carer)
Racheal Slater (care assistant)
I have to say it was a blistering hot day and we all had a fabulous time, to be honest the mud and water that we had to dredge through and was flung at us went towards helping us cool down a lot.
We had to roll down hills which sent all of us dizzy, we had to army crawl through mud pits, we had to climb walls and frames and then slide down a huge inflatable slide into a huge mud pit.
It was all very hard but very fun also.
Our residents are worth it, even if we were cleaning mud off us for two days…hahaha
As agreed the provider will be matching everything that we raise for our “Activity Fund”. So the grand total we will have collected at the end is………. (drum roll) £254.
This amount will help towards taking them on trips out an booking fun days etc.
Look out for future fund raising as we have our chef Simon having his hair coloured by myself (I was a hairdresser before Deputy Manager) multi coloured.
We have a “Fancy dress day” planned for the staff as school kids
Also we have a “Seaside Fun Day” on Friday 27th July 2018 which will have opportunities to raise more money such as;
Lucky Dip, Raffle, Dunk a staff member, Strawberries and Prossecco stand, Games, Book stand etc etc
So keep your eye peeled for our next bit of news eveyone.
The fun continues at Oldfield Bank
